Who are HRMDS?

Our Medical and Dental Services team provide dedicated support to Medical Managers, Doctors and Dentists at all levels, with all aspects of their employment journey including recruitment and supplementary staffing, management of workforce systems, terms and conditions and policy questions, employee relations and specific medical and dental processes.

Business as Usual/ General HR enquiries must be logged via HR Service Now. Please prioritise enquiries using this service instead of email/phone. You will receive a response through HR ServiceNow for the majority of enquiries. In some cases, where information is confidential, you will receive a response by email/phone.

Enquiries should be made relevant to the grade e.g.

  • If you have an enquiry about Consultant terms and conditions – select Consultant and then the site.
  • If logging an additional payment for a Specialty Doctor – select SAS and then the site.
  • For an annual leave policy for a Public Dental Officer – Select Public Dentists and then the site.
  • For a Clinical Fellow pay query – Select Resident Doctors (Clinical Fellow/Clinical Development Fellow) and then the site.

You are welcome to read our Discretionary Points Procedure Guidance for an overview of the process. Arrangements for applications for Discretionary Points in 2025/26 will be communicated to Consultants directly.

Supplementary staffing can be requested to cover any short or long term staffing gaps, where absolutely necessary.

Procedure for requesting Medical & Dental Staff

To request Bank or Agency staffing please use the following form: Bank or Agency Request Form

Requests will only be actioned once full approval has been granted.

There is a maximum cost recognised for Bank or Agency Locums within the procedure. If the request goes above the threshold please use the following form: Escalation Form

Resident Doctor health, safety and well-being is extremely important to us. If you are a Resident Doctor and you have had to deviate from your template rota on any sceduled shift please use this Resident Doctor Escalation Form to let us know. Your responses help the Department to create an Action Plan to ensure that your rota will remain compliant at all times.
