Due to the red warning which has been issued for the area, NHS Lanarkshire is postponing all non-urgent appointments in hospital and community settings on Friday 24 January 2025.

Below is a summary of the key points from the NHS Scotland: Interim National Arrangements for Adverse Weather to ensure everyone is aware of their responsibilities and alternative working arrangements:

  • Do not take unnecessary risks – Avoid travel unless it is absolutely essential and safe to do so.
  • Stay informed – Follow updates from the Met Office and advice from emergency services.
  • Communicate promptly – If you are unable to attend work, please contact your line manager as soon as possible.
  • Remote Work – If your role permits, you may work from home during this period with prior agreement from your manager.
  • Alternative Arrangements – Staff may be redeployed to a closer NHS facility or an alternative location. Your manager will guide you if this applies.

While we must maintain critical NHS services, we understand that individual circumstances differ. Managers will assess situations case by case and make reasonable accommodations to ensure safety while continuing essential operations.

NHS Lanarkshire has also advised GP practices to only provide urgent care tomorrow in order to avoid unnecessary travel. This will be delivered remotely where possible.

Gold Command will review the position throughout Friday and will issue further updates.

Please prioritise your safety and take all necessary precautions. If you have any questions or require assistance, contact your manager or refer to the most recent NHS Scotland: Interim National Arrangements for Adverse Weather.

Thank you to all our health and social care colleagues who are working to ensure we keep people safe and maintain essential services.

Further public updates will be issued on the NHS Lanarkshire website and social media channels.
