Learning & Organisational Development
We are in the midst of updating how staff can find information on L&OD support
For information on support relating to Equality & Diversity go to our dedicated FirstPort page
Information relating to Healthcare Support Worker Standards (HCSW), iMatter, learnProNHS & Turas Appraisal can be found at our FirstPort page
Our new Canva L&OD Magazine will provide you with information on the Learning & Development opportunities available to all staff, such as leadership & management, coaching, induction, bespoke team development, etc.
Compulsory learning & Annual appraisal information is below
General enquiries on any of the above should be directed to our learningandOD@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk

We send an email with the Subject Line ‘Your Monthly HR email’ every month, as close to the first of the month as we can. That’s a proactive reminder of any training topics you’re not compliant with or if any modules have three months or fewer to go before they expire.
Managers also get a one called ‘Your team’s monthly HR email‘ which includes everyone that reports to them on eESS. There are links in the email to HR Service Now, which you can use to log a ticket to let us know there’s someone on the list that shouldn’t be, or if there’s someone that should be added to their list.
Role-Specific Learning
Many of our staff are required to complete Role-Specific Learning. This might be linked to the type of job your do or the department you work in & should be assigned to you by your manager during your induction.
Appraisal
When someone joins NHS Lanarkshire they should have a Personal Development Planning meeting with their manager & their review will come one year later. That review should include updating the PDP to include any new objectives, ready for the next meeting in one year’s time!
We believe these annual meetings ensure appropriate support is available to staff & that all employees have access to learning & development opportunities throughout their careers.
This is another thing we’ll let you know about in ‘Your monthly HR email’. If you need more information about the appraisal process you should visit the Learning & OD page on FirstPort, & there is a helpdesk you can email if you can’t find the information yourself.
